Wulansari Invasion

Chapter 1

Akuwu Wengker introduces his guest, Penyewu Jaran Edan, “Ladies and Gentlemen, to day we have a guest from Medang City. Here they are Penyewu Jaran Edan along with his friends as ‘Peace delegation of Medang.’
He brought news, concerning the murderer.
Jaran, would you speak for us?”

“For the first, I want to greet my superior, Patih Kebo Ireng as well as Princess Putri Sekarpandanwangi.
Akuwu,thank you very much for you allow me to speak. I brought the important news concerning the killer of our King. Actually the killer was not Akuwu Wengker; therefore, we apologized to you Akuwu that we have made mistake for attacking Jati Wengker.

Who was the killer?
The killer was a soldier of Wulansari.
They have been camping at north border since three years ago.
You asked me, how he could enter the Palace?
He can enter the Palace because he has privilege as Princess’s lover.
He is Sora Mahisa. However, he is also a soldier of Wulansari.”

Suddenly, Princess shouts, “You are liar! How dare you Jaran! I want you to know that my lover is Medang Citizen. He is son of Demang Kimarachandra, Chief of Kedungsongo Village.”

The audience uproar; they discussed that matter to each other. The sound looks like bee’s sound. The majority provide Princess, but they wonder how a lover has killed his own father in law. How he has a heart to kill his own father in law.

Princess Putri Sekarpandanwangi was very sad as if every body has blamed on her.

So many problems of Kingdom that she must be blame for. The problem was King’s murder that further erupted into civil war. The last one was the suspect killer of King that Jaran Edan has accused lover of her, Sora Mahisa.

However, it was trully Nationality problems, not her problem.

Suddenly, a mob of Medang soldiers come into balairung. They have wounded all over their body.
Even their blood has dropped on the floor. Their custom tore and dirty.

“Master, we lost at war. The enemies have attacked on us at sudden when we were not ready to combat. They have killed our people, burnd our house and even burnd our Palace. Medang City has been burnt at all.”

“Who your enemies are ? And where are they now?”

“They are Wulansari soldiers. They come from Northern and now they are at Kedungsongo village as their Head Quarter.
They will be come at here in next three days from now on.
Master, now you are our leader; So please help us.”

Akuwu Wengker has responsibility to defense his Country. Now he is the leader of Medang Kingdom.

He speaks, “Ladies and Gentlemen, let us defense our Country as hard as we could. Now the enemies has come to conquer our Country. They are Wulansari Kingdom from northern.

You have already heard my friend Jaran Edan that has said, I am not guilty but Princess’s lover. He is a soldier of Wulansari Kingdom.
Let us unite our power; Make us be solid and fight.
How do you Kebo Ireng? Will you help us to fight that enemies?”

“Of course I will. This Kingdom is my Kingdom too. I have responsibility to defense this Country.”

“Thank you very much. How do you Princess Putri Sekarpandanwangi? Will you help us to fight against your lover’s Country?
What Country that you want to provide?
Where is our Princess?”

Every body looks for Princess, but she has gone.
She went snaking out of balairung room, stole a horse, rode the horse toward northern, when every body were busy.

She went to Medang City; She wants to prove whether her Palace has burnt or not. She can’t believe what the wounded soldiers has told.

Akuwu Wengker comments, “If she has gone then we will forget her for a while.”

Akuwu asks the wounded soldier, “Now we needed information, what the enemies will do next ? What was their planning to attack us ?.”

The wounded soldier explained, “They will come-up at Jati Wengker in three days from Kedungsongo; Their amount is one thousand and five hundred soldiers; Their leader is Kebo Anabrang and Boyo Pitu.

I was lucky that I can hear their conversation by accident.
They will part in two groups. Kebo Anabrang led group 1 which amount seven hundred persons; They will go straight to Jati Wengker, by crossing Conde River.

Boyo Pitu led group 2,which amount nine hundred soldiers; They will climb Mount Ratu Sewu and then using narrow Snake Valley for coming-up to Jati Wengker.”

“Why do they want to use narrow valley?” Akuwu Wengker asked.

“It was a secret plan of them; They want to make us being surprise since they will come at sudden in front of our Palace. Because the Snake Valley will conceal their moving and could come fastly.”

“Thank you very much soldier.!
We have to choose which one of those groups would become our target.

I chose Boyo Pitu group, since we will have advantageous to win the war.”

“What your plan Akuwu?”

“We will come at edge of the valley; We will attack them from above with arrows, stones and spears. They will have difficulty to maneuver since the valley was so narrow that they could not easy moving.
Remember, don’t make noise and even we must covered our horse shoe.”

“How do to face Kebo Anabrang’s troop?” Kebo Ireng asked.

“We will burn our Palace in which the enemies will be included inside.”

“What? Please don’t !. That Palace is expenssive, valuable.”
A soldier gave suggestion

“Even I will donate my soul to win this war ”. Akuwu said without hesitate.

Akuwu shoutes, "Gloria Medang Kingdom !, down Wulansari Kingdom !.”

“GLORIA MEDANG KINGDOM” All the audience shouted.

“Now we have to work; please don’t be late, we just have time three days. GO, GO, GO!” Akuwu commands.

Some soldiers climb trees surround the Palace; They prepared fire arrow to burn the Palace.
The others pour much sulfur at Palace floor included some straws for burning Palace.
A soldier put gold and jewelry boxes on the Palace floor as if the owner has dropped it accidentally in hurry and frightened.
Some workers brought the furniture Palace to somewhere, the save places.

Then the soldiers ready to burn the Palace include enemies within whose will rob the Palace.

Some soldiers guided the refugees’ people whose have come from Medang City. They will save in the cave to avoid battlefield.

Akuwu Wengker led his Army as well as Medang soldiers until reached edge of the valley. Seems the two groups can work together hand in hand; No more hostility between both of them.
The war against Wulansari kingdom is more important than that civil war previously.

They have collected big stones, ready for throwing enemies into narrow valley from above of them.

Boyo Pitu was stupid to choose the Snake Valley since the valley using just for snake, not for human. However, if his plan didn’t divulge then he will win easily.


Chapter 2

Princess Putri Sekarpandanwangi rides her horse until she reachs at edge of Medang City. Smoke itch her eyes, bad smell of dead bodies make her nauseat and many bad things has made her frightened.

She has never found a battlefield like this event, since Medang Kingdom has a peace condition for a long time.
However, her Country become a horrible places now.

She moves again until reach the Central City; That places is more horrible since many dead bodies of human and horses lay on the ground; Burnt houses every where; as if no sign of a live creature.
Every body has run away toward Jati Wengker.

Finally, she reachs her Palace. The enemies have burnt the Palace; The fire is still burnt on the last part of building.

Surprised that she found the dead body of her mother, Ken Umang. She cries and shoutes, “Who kill my mother ? Oh Goddess, please stop your punishment to us.
Oh Goddess forgive us.”

She dig a hole to bury her mother corpse. No one can help her since any body was at there. She can finish that job with much effort.

She surprised again, when she found dead body of Ken Uno, Akuwu’s mother.
“Oh Wulansari King, what do you want to by destructing, burning and killing every body; you were really mad.”

Again, she dig a hole for Ken Uno, Akuwu’s mother.

She rides her horse, returns to Jati Wengker. All territory of Medang Kingdom has fallen into the authority of enemies, except Jati Wengker.

She has to choose step pathway in the forest to avoid enemy. She wearied common dress and a mask to cover her face. She really frightened, “The enemies were really mad; They should just kill the opponent soldier not entire people.” She thought.

She found a Hindu Temple that never use again. Now, she can rest in the Temple.
A statue of Siwa God is there.
She prays, “I knew that you asked me to pray in your house Oh Siwa.
Yes I want to pray and promise you to pay homage every day, but please stop your punishment on us.”

She prayed in front the Siwa statue.

Afterward, she wrote poem on the wall of Temple with her sword.

Any one respected a live
They killed human like killing an ant
What value of live is
Even soul of a King has no value at all

They come from north
With lust to kill and destroy
What your purpose is
Even your King didn’t know

God, please stop your disaster
I knew you have your anger
You knew that we never pay homage to you
Please forgive us

She exhausted but she can’t sleep since she afraid. Moreover, she thought her lover again and again.

“Why did you kill my father? Was Jaran Edan true? I would rather he was un-true than true. Sora Mahisa, I loved you with all my heart, but why did you cheated on me by killing my father.

Patih Kebo Ireng, I blamed on you by all those disasters. You should report us the planning of Wulansari attacking early. You have to know what the enemy’s planning. You are stupid since you just report about threatening of Akuwu Wengker.

In addition, you Sora Mahisa, you could laugh because you have your winner now, but who will laugh at the ending; Let us wait and see it.
Now I hate you, no more love between us, but hate.”

Afterward, she sleeps beside statue of Siwa.

A Wulansari soldier went into the Temple slowly. Seems he knew that there is a woman in there. He found Princess has been sleeping. He comes near, seat on beside and waiting her. He could kill Princess easilly but he didn’t want to.

One hour later on, Princess wakes up. She found a stranger seat on her side.
She unsheath her sword and attacks the stranger.
The soldier run away and says, “Princess Putri Sekarpandanwangi, Prince Sora Mahisa has been waiting for you. Please come with us for your safety since this place was dangerous.”

“What? Is Sora Mahisa a Prince ? He has attacked the Country of his lover, unbelieveable!” Sekarpandanwangi thought.

She goes out of Temple, ride her horse as fast as she could. She goes toward Southern to Jati Wengker.

That soldier was right, she found the enemies have blocked the road.
Twenty Wulansari soldiers are on the street, stop Princess.
Princess stop but suddenly she turns her horse back toward Medang.
Then she runs again toward Northern to Medang City.

After ten-minute has run, she feels hurt on her neck back. She rub it; She find a short arrow has stabbed on her neck; It is a piece of ‘Sumpit Dayak’.

Now she become weakness then she fall down from her horse. However, she still conscious; she could be able to hear. She keeps the sumpit in her pocket.

Afterward, some soldiers of Wulansari come out from the bush. They put Princess Body on back of her horse, guide her to the military post number sixteenth.

The soldiers were relaxing, drink tuak (beer) and talk hapily. They discussed concerning their military neglected. They admired that their tactical was a mistake

Princess could hear their discussing.

“Boyo Pitu should choose another way of road to come to Jati Wengker. He has fatal mistaken to choose the way of Snake Valley.
Therefore, Akuwu Wengker can be easy to attack his troops.”

“Kebo Anabrang also has been defeated and even dead, burnt within Akuwu’s Palace.”

“Please don’t talk our loser; Now we must go back to Kedungsongo and unite our Army to revenge.”

Princess is happy and satisfying to hear that her stepbrother won the war of Snake Valley affair, “You are our hero; I apologize to you for our mistake to accuse you.” She tought.

“King Girindrawardana, The King of Wulansari Kingdom will ad the amount of his military power with seven hundred soldiers, led by Boyo Lali; He is the little brother of Boyo Pitu.”

Sumpit Dayak is traditional weapon of Kalimantan people. Some one blow a wood pipe to push a little arrow. The arrow is poison; The poison can make the nerve stop working. The victim will die because he or she can’t breath.

Princess can’t be able to move her arm and her leg; She also feel heavy for breathing. If she didn’t treat immediately by some one else then she will have been going to die.
Princess was in jeopardy.

She thought and regreting, “If I agreed with that soldier’s suggestion to follow him then I will save now.
I could have pretend as if I still loved Sora Mahisa, even though I hate him.
Now I am going to die”.

A soldier approachs her, take her sword and her horse also.
He left Princess behind since he knew that woman will die soon. He didn’t care of her. Then they go to Kalisosok HQ for consolidation.

Why did they have left Princess? That because of he suppose the woman was just a Medang woman soldier. He knew already that Prince Sora Mahisa has a lover; That’s Princess of Medang Kingdom. However the soldiers have never known her.
If they have known that woman is Prince’s lover then he will take care of her.


Chapter 3

Akuwu Wengker and his soldiers have to hide in the deep forest, because he predicted they will lose in the next war.
He has just little amount soldiers; It’s sufficient to face Boyo Pitu and his Army

After he won in the battle of Mount Ratu Sewu, he never show up in the next battle.
Wulansari Army has difficulty to face their opponent that has never shown up.

Akuwu commands to Ki Manjangan for spying the enemies maneuver and report immediately to Akuwu Wengker in his Camp. If Akuwu has opportunity to attack then he will come out from the forest to fight; Especially robbing foodstuff’s enemy.

After has killed his own father in law, Prince Sora Mahisa along with his soldiers moved, crossed the north border of Medang Kingdom to invade and conquered Medang Kingdom.

They fought the soldiers’ enemy easily since their opponent didn’t suppose will be invaded. Mas Alitkereng’s telling concerning the enemy’s attacking, not be responded by King. that was the fatal mistake of King’s decision.

Then Wulansari soldiers burnt, destroyed the Palace and killed every person of Medang City; A cruel war has happened at the end of Majapahit era.
People run away to Jati Wengker. That was very bad chaos and difficulty.

The enemies moved forward to Kalisosok and made their Head Quarter at there. Demang Kimarachandra helped them to erect many tents.
People knew that this man was traitorous to his own Country.

All territory of Medang Kindom has been captured by enemy except Jati Wengker. They have attacked Jati Wengker, but failed. Even Akuwu Wengker can defeated them.

Then they retreated back to Kalisosok. They consolidated and built their new power. King Girindrawardana sent new troops that was amount seven hundred soldiers. That troops was led by Boyo Lali, brother of Boyo Pitu.


Meanwhile Ki Manjangan spy Kalisosok area.
He has also to report information concerning war impact that hit to people, besides spying.

One day, when Ki Manjangan and his friends neared military post number sixteenth they surprised to see their Princess is almost dieing. She still conscious.

“Gusti Ratu!, what was happened? Why did you lie down at this site?” Ki Manjangan asked.

Princess can’t be able to talk; She just shows the sumpit dayak.

“Oh Wulansari soldier has shot you with blow pipe. Don’t worry Gusti Ratu, since I have the antidote from my Dayak friend.”

Ki Manjangan works to make antidote. He poures powder of herb in a glass of water and then it mixed by stirring. Then the drug is ready to treat Princess.
Princess drinks the antidote.

Afterward, Princess can move her hands. Not so long he can move also her legs. She tries to stand up, but she fall down.

“Please Gusti Ratu, don’t so fast, we need time to make you recover and heal.”

Now Princess can be able to talk, “Ki Manjangan, thank you for your helping. But we need to go from this site as soon as possible since Wulansari soldiers will come and take me to his HQ. I assumed Sora Mahisa will give his command to find me.”

“OK friends let us go now!”

They put body of Princess on the horse back. They go off immediately into the forest.

Ki Manjangan has known every place in the forest, and then they will be safe.

They continue their journey, go into deep forest, then make Princess wonders, “Hi Ki Manjangan, we have gone so far into deep forest that make me frightened. Is that the right way? Shall we lose our way?”

“That is the right way; Because we want to hide.”

“I understood.
Hi Kimanjangan, I am going fine; I can seat on the horse saddle; I can move my legs and hands. Thank you Ki Manjangan.”

“Thank you God. You have to say thank you to Goddess.”

“Oh Goddess, I knew you have sent Ki Manjangan to help me; thank you God.”

The forest become dark and dense. Some times, they found big snake and crocodile.

After walked two days in the forest, they reached the camp of Akuwu Wengker.

Ki Manjangan blows his bamboo flute. The sound is melodious. It is a sandy sound to open the gate.

The guard, who is guarding the gate, opened the gate after heard the sound.

They entered the camp. Princess is happy wants to meet her stepbrother.
Now he realized that Akuwu Wengker is a hero of Kingdom; He was a warrior of his Country to chase the enemy away.
She wants to hug him and say sorry for attacking him.
He touched in deep of her heart.

“Ki Manjangan, I want to be a soldier of Akuwu Wengker; I will fight at battlefield to chase the enemy away.”

“Common, you are our leader. Akuwu Wengker is just a warrior; He is our Commandant at war.”

Afterward, Akuwu Wengker comes, approachs his stepsister and hug her.
Seems he has no aversion to her but love, so did his sister.

“My Princess, welcome to our Camp; I am sorry to welcome you in deep of forest like this. We should welcome you in a beautiful Palace.”

“Brother, I have big mistake that have made you suffering much.
Will you give your apology to me?”

“Let us forget it; We should blame Wulansari soldiers, not you.”
